Milestones In Our History

Autumn 1946
Founded Kurotani Shoten in Yokotamachi, Takaoka-city, Toyama, a company dealing mainly non-ferrous metals.
April 1967

Incorporated as Kurotani Co., Ltd. with capital of 30 million yen from individually owned company.

November 1985
Acquired the management participation right of Shin-Nihon Bijutsu(a company producing and dealing fine arts products and refining/manufacturing/dealing non-ferrous metals with capital 1 million yen). Increased capital to 4 million yen.
January 1986
Relocated the head office to 5-25 Nishimachi, Takaoka-city, Toyama. Opened the Kosugi office.
March 1986
Renamed as Kurotani Corporation.
June 1986
Increased capital to 100 million yen.
October 1986

Inaugurated the head office and main factory to 12-2 Nagonoe, Shinminato-city (later renamed as Imizu-city), Toyama.

Opened the Tokyo branch as a strategic sales office, and opened Niigata office.

November 1986
Inaugurated the new head office building.
April 1992
Opened the Osaka office to expand the sale of fine arts business.
August 1993
Closed the Kosugi office.
October 1994
Acquired Technocast Co., Ltd. to expand the main factory facilities.
February 1995
Acquired Shin-Nihon Shoji and Art & Craft.
September 1996
Developed new technology for reducing weight of 24 carat gold ornaments.
July 1997
Commenced manufacturing of continuous casting octagon ingots.
September 1998
Increased capital to 300 million yen.
April 2000
Commenced manufacturing of continuous casting tetragon billets.
August 2000
Obtained ISO9001 certification.
June 2000
Commenced manufacturing of lead-free bronze.
August 2007
Increased capital to 499 million yen.
March 2008
Obtained ISO14001 certification.
August 2008 Closed the Osaka office.
June 2011 Listed on 2nd Section of Tokyo Stock Exchang
July 2011 Increased capital to 593 million yen.
October 2011 Obtained certification of OHSAS18001, an international standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
August 2012 Subsidiary company KUROTANI NORTH AMERICA INC. started operating in Portland, OR.
July 2011 Increased capital to 593 million yen.
